Structure
The Committee consists of:
1 & 2.
Auditors (male and female)
The two auditors share overall responsibility for the general running of
the society, and work with the Student's Union, Student Services and the
Union of Students of Ireland on LGBT-related issues.
Need to be: power-crazed megalomaniacs... (who work well as a team).
3. Treasurer
The treasurer is in charge of the society's money. This person handles
the receipts, lodgement slips, cheques, funding request forms, etc.
Works behind the scenes, but powerful member of the committee.
Needs to be: handy with a calculator
4. Secretary
The secretary takes minutes at committee meetings, keeps the mailing
list up-to-date, and does those report thingies for the Societies
Officer.
Needs to be: good at typing.
5. Public Relations Officer
The PRO promotes and advertises the society and it's events so that
information reaches the maximum number of people in the target
population. In short, they do the postering.
Needs to be: tall, and knowledgeable in the use of sellotape.
6. New Member Liaison Officer
The NMLO is responsible is a first contact for new members by e-mail,
phone, letter, pigeon, pony express, etc. They co-ordinate the
Icebreaker meetings, and make sure that any new member at a meeting is
getting on okay.
Needs to be: able to speak English to an intermediate standard.
7. Events Officer
The Events Officer works with other gay businesses and organizations in
the city in the planning of GIGsoc events such as Gay Awareness Week and
Coming Out Week.
Needs to be: able to remember what they absolutely promised they said
they would definitely do the previous night while drunk down at the pub.
8. Communications Officer
The Communications Officer is responsible for the administration of the
website, and the radio show (in those years we get off our arses and
actually organise one).
Needs to be: proficient in the use of both a mouse and a microphone.
9. Education Officer
Ensures that information on LGBT issues is disseminated to members.
Needs to: know stuff
